As of today,mouse is the most popular point and draw device.It has become a must have input device on personal computer and workstations,which have a GUI-based user interface .It is a small hand held device,which can comfortably fit in a user's palm.Since all movements of the mouse are reproduced by the graphics cursor on the screen,you can move the graphics cursor at a menu item or an icon by moving the mouse.With the proper software, a mouse can also be used to draw pictures on the screen and edit text.

A trackball is a pointing device, which is similar to a mouse.To moving the graphics cursor around the screen, the ball is rolled with the figure .because the whole device is not moved for moving the graphics cursor,a track ball requires less space than a mouse for operation.A trackball comes in various shapes and forms with the same functionality.

JOYSTICK...

A joystick is a pointing device,which works on the same principle as a trackball.To make the movement of the spherical ball easier, the sherical ball , which moves in a socket, has a stick mountain on it.The stick can be moved backward or forward ,left or right.Typical use of a joystick include video games , flight simulation,training simulation ,and for controlling industrial roborts..

OPTICAL CHRACTER RECOGNIZER (OCR)...

The OCR technology is used to overcome these limitations.In this case ,the scanner is equiped with a character recogniation software CAlled OCR software,Which converts the bit map image of the characters to equivalent ASCAII codes.Nte that if the documents contain s italies or bold face letters ,or fonts other than the that for which the OCR software has been designed,will not work effectively.

OPTICAL MARK READER (OMR)...

These scanners are capable of recognizing a pre-specified type of mark made by pencile or pen.
